Based on 2 Kings 6, John Spellman preaches on Elisha and his mentoring of the sons of the prophets. When an expensive piece of equipment is lost to the bottom of the Jordan river, all seems hopeless. What message could this hold for our church today? What encouragement could those facing life's circumstances gain? Why did God allow such an expensive loss in the first place? What can we learn about God through the miracle performed? This message focuses on how the gospel is not about us, but about God. It is a message about the need for less self and more Holy Spirit direction. It is also a message of hope to those who know God and emphasizes how a life without God leads to hopelessness.
How was the old covenant sacrificial system replaced by the new? In what ways did it typify the ministry of Jesus? Was salvation ever really different in the Old Covenant compared to the new? What is Jesus' role as High Priest? Was the earthly sanctuary really a model of something existent in Heaven?
What can we learn from Jesus' entry into Jerusalem? Why was He accepted by some and rejected by others? In what way was the glory of the second temple more than the glory of the first temple? What did Jesus intend to teach through the cursing of the fig tree, His parable about the Lord of the vineyard, and His parable of the wedding feast? Is the church today in danger of making the same mistake as the religious leaders in Israel?
What does Paul mean by freedom in Christ? In what way are we free? What are we freed from? Does freedom in Christ mean we disregard the law? Can legalism or indulgence in sin be true freedom? Why would circumcision cause one to fall from grace and lose Christ?
The Bible teaches about a day lost in history. A day God designed for us to remember. This week's lesson uncovers the mystery of this forgotten and lost day.
That’s poor policing! How could they go to make an arrest, and not even know the accused or carry along an artist impression of Him? They might have taken anyone. But that wouldn’t happen. Judas was the reliable eye witness; and he was with the arresting officers to make sure they get the right accused. Still, upon their arrival, it was Jesus who asked them: “Whom are you seeking?” They replied, “Jesus of Nazareth”. Jesus identified himself when He said, “I am He”. Instead of stepping forward and arresting Jesus, they drew back and fell to the ground. It took a repeat of Jesus’ question before they believed and arrested Him.

The Holy Spirit quickens us to live for Christ. Abiding in Christ is allowing His words to be our sword, and faith our shield. As our consciences are activated, and we now see sin as it really is; in faith, we can reach out to Jesus to rescue us from the evil of sin, its power and its woe. There comes a time in one’s life when enough is enough, whatever it may be, the limit has been reached. You’ve had enough. It’s the same with sinning.
